$80.00

A One-Day Workshop in Central Park

Date: Saturday, August 2, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Cost: $80 per person
(Rain date: Sunday, August 3)

Join me for a creative and fun morning of drawing in one of the most iconic landscapes in the world—Central Park. This 4-hour outdoor workshop focuses on drawing expressive, atmospheric landscapes using only ballpoint and rollerball pens.

Whether you’re new to pen drawing or looking to refine your technique, this workshop will help you see and capture the landscape in a fresh, bold way—with just a pen and paper.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to properly hold and control a pen to improve your mark-making

  • Techniques to create tone, texture, and depth using line alone

  • The basics of composition: where to place light, shadow, and focal points

  • How to let the white of the page do the work and create atmosphere

We’ll start with short warm-up exercises to explore the qualities of each pen, then shift to a longer landscape study—drawing directly from the park around us.

Location: Central Park (exact location will be emailed)

Materials (not included):
Bring the following materials with you (or similar alternatives):

  • Ballpoint pen: Zebra F-301 (.7mm) or similar

  • Rollerball pen: Uni-ball Vision Elite (.5mm or finer preferred)

    Examples:

    • Stonehenge paper pad

    • Moleskine Sketchbook
